Show your body some love with a body MOT

Over a month into the New Year and for many of us the initial fervour of good intentions is already starting to wane.

A one-size-fits-all approach to ‘good health’ rarely works, so if you’re serious about improving your own and your employee’s wellbeing this year, you need to focus on exactly what makes each person tick.

What is a body MOT?

A body MOT (often referred to as a health MOT) is a good way to get a full picture of your overall wellbeing so you have the information you need to become fitter and healthier. It is worthwhile to encourage your employees to have an MOT as well.

Body MOT checks vary from supplier to supplier, but generally they consist of a short health check carried out by a health professional or personal trainer, who can support you with expert advice and guidance. They will carry out various tests to measure your wellbeing using health indicators.

Health indicators:

  • Body mass index (BMI)
  • Resting heart rate
  • Waist to hip ratio
  • Cholesterol
  • Aerobic fitness
  • Blood pressure
  • Blood sugar level

Using the results they will identify opportunities to improve your overall health, giving you what you need to make positive fitness, diet and lifestyle changes. They can also give you advice on your exercise regime, health concerns, existing injuries, alcohol use, stress levels and quality of sleep – all to improve your overall wellbeing.

No matter how healthy you think you are, there’s always room for improvement!
