We're delighted to announce Client Service Leader for Scotland, Catherine Kelly, has been awarded the Scottish Motor Trade Association (SMTA) 'Nan Lindsay Award' in recognition of her contribution to the motor trade.
Established in 2021, the awards are dedicated to Nan Lindsay, a well-known figure in the Scottish car industry, the first and, so far, the only woman to serve as President of the SMTA.
SMTA's Females in Focus event was created to highlight the diverse careers available in the motor industry. Speaking about the awards, SMTA's event manager, Karen Thompson, explained: "SMTA is committed to encouraging more women to join the Scottish motor trade. We are passionate about highlighting the many different types of careers available within our very diverse industry. We want to help change the perception of the automotive industry to encourage more opportunities for females.
"SMTA was delighted to present this award to Catherine this year. We felt Catherine epitomises perfectly the diverse careers available within the motor trade and was a worthy recipient of our 'Nan Lindsay Award'."
Catherine was presented with her award at the SMTA annual dinner and CAR star awards last month at the Hilton, Glasgow. As the second recipient of this award, speaking of her recognition, she said: "I am delighted to be recognised within the motor industry as someone who is worthy of this award and Nan was someone I looked up to as I was developing my own career”.
Catherine started her career in 1985 with Mercantile Credit as an Account Manager responsible for a portfolio of motor dealers. She went on to lead a successful sales team, sharing some of her knowledge and expertise with others and enjoying future success within the finance motor industry. Now a member of the Marsh Commercial team working with the Regional Directors and their Heads of Office throughout Scotland and the North, Catherine believes that whilst the product may be different, it's still about the clients, the service, and the right attitude.
