As a long-standing Marsh client, JET Plant Hire continues to build on the foundations described in our original 2021 case study. Recent initiatives—developed and delivered in partnership with Marsh—have sharpened JET’s decision-making in incident scenarios. They’ve also improved fleet safety and training, and reinforced its focus on workforce wellbeing and business resilience. The following update summarises those developments and the tangible recognition they’ve delivered.
Marsh ran two full mock trials for all managers and directors.* Executive Chairman, Sean Witheford, describes these sessions as “eye opening, powerful and invaluable in understanding how decisions play out in real‑world claims scenarios.” The exercises have strengthened JET’s claim defensibility and improved decision making under pressure.
Alongside the mock trials, Marsh provided dedicated claim-defensibility consultancy to help JET prevent, prepare for and respond to incidents. That work sits alongside a renewed focus on risk training and a psychosocial pilot with JET. This reflects a growing emphasis on workforce wellbeing.
JET upgraded its vehicle camera systems with CameraMatics, which has already begun to improve fleet insights and safety performance. Several drivers have completed SAFAD driver training. JET has progressed one driver through SAFAD’s train‑the‑trainer programme to build internal training capability. Marsh is also supporting specialist low‑speed manoeuvring training to reduce risk in confined operations.
To strengthen business resilience, JET has committed to a Business Continuity audit with Horizonscan. This is a preferred supplier of Marsh, building on its existing, detailed plans. This audit will help further embed contingency arrangements and ensure the business can continue operating through disruption.
These combined efforts have translated into measurable progress. JET has added ISO 9001 to its existing ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 certifications. The business has secured RoSPA awards for eight consecutive years. JET won the Fleet Safety Trophy again in 2025, and won the Motor Transport “Safety in Operation” Award in 2024. JET’s carbon footprint is now independently verified to ISO 14064, and Avetta recognised the company as an ESG Innovator. Sean credits this achievement in part to Marsh’s support. JET was also highly commended at the 2025 Sustainability Awards and named a Sunday Times Best Place to Work in 2025.
Sean reflects that Marsh’s role has grown beyond arranging policies to actively supporting improvement across the business. “They push our thinking, challenge us in the right way, and act like an extension of the business who know our people, our values and support us as if they were part of the business family. And they genuinely care,” he says. Marsh’s sponsorship of the Nick Verhoest Trophy—awarded to someone who truly lives JET’s values—also underlines the close cultural fit between the organisations.
JET’s recent achievements show how focused training, practical technology upgrades, targeted consultancy and resilience planning can combine to deliver safer operations, stronger claims defensibility and recognised sustainability progress. The partnership with Marsh has supported that journey, helping JET translate ambition into measurable outcomes and sustained improvement.
