One of the benefits of being an ICAEW member insured via the member’s professional indemnity scheme is free access to helplines offering advice on tax, legal and medical matters.

QBE’s tax and VAT helpline

Through an arrangement with Markel Tax, QBE provides access to a free helpline for specialist advice on all UK direct taxes. When uncertain, you can call a dedicated team of experts, many of whom have previously worked for the HMRC. This service can be used for your own tax queries or to help you handle queries from your clients. Talk to an expert about your tax queries regarding:

Income tax.
PAYE.
National insurance.
Corporation tax.
Capital gains tax.
Inheritance tax.
VAT.
Stamp duty land tax.

The helpline experts have experience in advising small to corporate-sized businesses from the public or private sector. The helpline is open to all partners and directors of your firm to ask technical questions or get a second opinion, from Monday to Friday between 9:00 – 17:30.

Eurolaw legal advice helpline

Next time you need advice on legal matters such as people issues, contract disputes or even property issues – remember you can seek an expert opinion. A dedicated helpline, provided by DAS, is free under your members’ PI insurance and provides unlimited access to confidential legal advice on any commercial or personal legal problems. The team only advise on problems subject to the laws of the UK, European Union, the Isle of Man, the Channel Islands, Switzerland and Norway.

When you’re unsure, call the experts about matters including:

Employment.
Contract disputes.
Prosecutions.
Data protection.
Discrimination.
Statutory licences.
Property protection.
Accidents and injuries.
Tenancy disputes.

This service is available to all partners and directors of your firm. There’s no limit to how often you can access this helpline, or how long you can stay on the phone with an adviser.

Counselling helpline

When life’s challenges become too much, it’s important to speak to someone about the problems you’re having. Sometimes, it’s difficult to discuss issues with family and friends. The DAS counselling helpline provides confidential access to a team of professional counsellors. Like the other helplines, this service is free with your members’ PI insurance policy.

Often, callers will only need one session, however weekly calls can be arranged if necessary. Counsellors may also provide details of face-to-face counsellors in your area or suggest further assistance to professional agencies where appropriate (any costs involved in these referrals will be the responsibility of the caller).

As a member of ICAEW and a client of Marsh Commercial, your partners, directors, and employees will have free unlimited access to the DAS counselling helpline.

Health and medical helpline

Offering access to a medical helpline not only provides a duty of care to your employees but may reduce sick leave and absenteeism as it provides a better understanding of health problems and potential treatments.

The DAS health and medical helpline provides non-diagnostic health and medical information. Advice can be given on:

Non-diagnostic medical matters.
