Employment Tribunals Online Data Base
Whilst many companies may have faced existing or former employees in court during an Employment Tribunal, it has rarely been made so easy for members of the public to find out details of said tribunals.
However, in June 2016, HM Courts and Tribunal Service announced that it would be launching an online database of employment tribunal decisions.
This database has now gone live and covers new or recent decisions from England, Wales and Scotland. It is not currently known whether existing judgments will be added to the database as well, but if they do, then any company having been through a tribunal in the past will face exposure.
If you look on the site link below, around 100 decisions from 2016 are already up there, and you can search by name, date, judge or jurisdiction code.
This new public database acts as a harsh reminder to employers that, should they end up on the wrong side of a tribunal claim, the findings and any criticisms against them will be popping up on a google search. Information like this could potentially damage their reputation to prospective clients or would be employees.
Ensuring you adhere to current Employment Law regulations is paramount, not only for the good of employees but for the business as a whole to ensure its survival in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
