'A ride with Mark' - Well done to everyone involved!

On the 23 June, 21 riders representing Team Jelf donned their aerodynamic lycra and braved the soaring temperatures, for a worthy and for many, personal cause, to raise money for Parkinson's UK.
'A Ride with Mark' was organised in honour of Mark Sayer's memory, former COO for Jelf, who passed away last year; Mark was an avid cyclist and Parkinson's was a cause very close to his heart.
Members of the Exec, Mark's colleagues from across the business, cycle club members, family and friends all took part in 'A Ride with Mark, The Wiltshire Way in a Day' challenge.

Covering 160 miles through the picturesque (and at times demanding) Wiltshire countryside, the route is split in to circuits to suit all levels, including 40 miles, 70 miles and the full 160 mile Wiltshire Way route.

Julia McKee led a team (including Paul Bennett and Richard Cook) on the 40 mile ride, Jerry Wilson led a team (including Duncan Carter, Alan Sumner, Julian Hilton, Lee Davey, Gareth Roberts, Nick Pay, Steve Hook, Roger Smith, Richard Smith and Graeme Monce) on the 70 mile ride, and Phil Barton and Stewart Walker, with a team of Mark's family and friends completed the full 160 miles.

Our roving reporters in the field tell us it was a truly triumphant and memorable day. Every rider successfully completed their ride within the designated time; 6am - 8pm, notching up 14 hours in the saddle in total - ouch!

All the routes had fantastic support on the day, with people providing refreshments and pit-stops, fuelling the riders and encouraging them on. Despite the high (and unseasonal heat!), everyone was in really great spirits and it was a huge team effort.

To end the day, Mark's wife Emma welcomed all the riders in to her garden in Corsham, providing welcomed cold beers and homemade cakes. Emma said she was overwhelmed by the effort and support of everyone involved.

A huge well done and thank you to everyone that took part.

So far we've raised an incredible £24,448 for Parkinson's UK, moving ever closer to our target of £30k.

If you have any ideas for challenges, or simply fun ways, to raise money for this incredibly important cause, rally your colleagues and make it a team effort. Or if you'd like to make a personal contribution, you can do so on the 'Ride with Mark' Just Giving page.
